The Government of India appointed Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani as the next Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), making him the country’s top military officer responsible for promoting coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The appointment is strategically important because India is increasingly focusing on integrated military planning, modernization, and theatre command reforms in response to evolving security challenges.
Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani is regarded as an experienced military leader with extensive operational and command experience in the Indian Army.
