The launch from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island (Chandipur) validated all operational and technical parameters. With a strike range of 700–900 km, Agni-1 is a critical component of India's land-based strategic deterrent and is capable of carrying a payload of up to 1,000 kg for both conventional and nuclear delivery roles.
