What is the News?

In a major economic push, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi returned from a three-day investment roadshow in Gujarat having secured investment commitments worth an impressive ₹48,330 crore. The delegation visited Ahmedabad, Mundra, and Vadodara, conducting over 132 business engagements including high-level one-on-one meetings and sectoral roundtables. A total of eight MoUs and 63 investment intent forms were signed, with projections estimating the creation of around 67,838 employment opportunities across diverse sectors—ranging from metal downstream, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals to green energy equipment, IT, semiconductors, textiles, aerospace, and even lab-grown diamonds.

Chief Minister Majhi positioned Odisha as the gateway to India’s fastest-growing trade corridors, emphasizing the state’s long coastline, port-led logistics, policy stability, and single-window clearance system (GO-SWIFT). He framed the push within PM Modi’s “Purvodaya” vision, arguing that for India to become a developed nation (Viksit Bharat), Eastern India—with Odisha at its helm—must rise industrially. This matters for aspirants because such investment summits reflect how states compete for capital and why ‘ease of doing business’ reforms are critical to job creation.
