Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Odisha Police for successfully eliminating Naxal influence from the state. The honour ceremony was held in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh.
Odisha officially achieved Naxal-free status on 31 March 2026 after years of anti-insurgency operations and development initiatives in affected tribal districts. Security agencies coordinated intelligence, infrastructure development, and welfare schemes to weaken Maoist activities.
The achievement is seen as a major milestone in India’s internal security efforts and may improve economic growth and investment opportunities in remote regions of Odisha.
