International BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Summit Concludes in Puri

The three-day high-profile technical meeting of the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Working Group successfully concluded today at Puri, Odisha. Under India’s 2026 BRICS Presidency, delegates from 11 countries—including core members and newly inducted partner nations—evaluated global risk frameworks. Odisha was strategically chosen as the global host due to its internationally recognized milestones in cyclone mitigation, early warning radar networks, and Community-Led Disaster Response. The Puri Declaration drafted during this summit focuses on utilizing traditional coastal knowledge to scale up anticipatory evacuation frameworks worldwide.
